We have two tenant panels that you can join... The Tenant Forum and the Scrutiny Panel.

We want to work with tenants to create a great housing service. It is important to us that tenants have a say in scrutinising and monitoring Cornwall Housing services. By joining our panels and giving feedback, you’ll help influence the Council’s policies.

Join the Cornwall Housing Tenants' Forum

Aim: to monitor, improve and hold to account Cornwall Housing

Top priorities: Repairs, Maintenance and Customer Service

Message from Chairperson, John Harris:

"This is a big shout out from the Tenants Forum to all Cornwall Housing tenants. As with life, things are always changing, and the Forum is no exception. As always, we are looking for people to fill our ranks. What we want are people who can spare a few hours a month to work with other tenants to sit on the Forum. Or one of our sub-committees. You'll help us monitor how our services are delivered, and make sure standards are kept up. But, most of all, you'll ensure the best interests of residents are kept at the heart of the company. The panel ensures tenant voices are being listened to.

The Forum is a here to represent and help all Cornwall residents by working with the company to improve the services. We resolve any problems that may crop up and, when needed, hold the company to account.

The Forum can only do this by monitoring the company and talking to you. By asking you, our neighbours for your views, opinions and ideas. Then taking them to the management and Board of Cornwall Housing, who will then act on what we have found and recommended.

To do all this, the Forum meet regularly in Bodmin for a morning of chat and debate. If you would rather not attend meetings in person, we can also meet virtually. So you don’t have to leave the comfort of your own home."

Join the Cornwall Housing Scrutiny Panel

Aim: to investigate services and identify where improvements can be made.

Top Priorities: To be a ‘critical’ friend to Cornwall Housing.

There are two ways to get involved in the Scrutiny Panel:

Core Group - This is the more involved membership. You will attend meetings online and face to face. You will help with research, conduct site visits, and help to write reports to present to Cornwall Housing.

Task & Finish Group - This is a more informal way to be involved. Work around your commitments and time restraints. Undertake specific tasks, looking at areas of interest and skill set.

Complaint Handling Process Report

The Scrutiny Panel have completed their investigation report into how Cornwall Housing manage their complaints process. They made 13 recommendations. The report is titled: 'What is the Customers’ experience for Cornwall Housing’s Complaint Handling procedure, (is it in line with Housing Ombudsman Service complaint handling code)?’ Cornwall Housing are now reviewing their Complaints Policy using the Scrutiny Panel’s recommendations. A new policy will be launched in April 2023, after it has been to the Tenants' Forum for approval. Read the Scrutiny Panel Complaint Handling report.

Message from Chairperson, Richard McCarthy

“We are pleased to present our Complaint Handling report. We are confident that the recommendations we have made to Cornwall Housing will help the complaint process and speed up the process for residents. Before we decide what area to scrutinise next, we are revisiting our outstanding recommendations from other reports, making sure they are being implemented in the timeframe agreed. Don’t forget to look out for our update articles in the Tenants' Newsletter!”
